The role:
The Associate Event Director (AED) leads the strategic planning, execution, and management of one of our luxury travel events. With responsibility for ensuring commercial success and exceptional delivery, the AED will act as the ‘Managing Directorʼ for their assigned event, driving operational excellence, team leadership, and client satisfaction. They will support the management of P&L and budget, collaborating closely with senior leadership to ensure commercial success. For this role specifically, the Associate Event Director will lead the strategic repositioning of Further East, evolving the brandʼs market identity and competitive positioning to drive show growth and customer retention. Therefore a strong background in brand strategy
and marketing is preferred - with the ability to translate brand vision into commercial results.

● Outstanding Event Delivery: Deliver a strategic business plan, coordinate, and execute events to the highest standards, ensuring seamless logistics and exceptional experiences.
● Commercial Success: Achieve revenue, profitability, and audience growth targets, with effective budget and P&L management/support where applicable.
● Client & Stakeholder Satisfaction: Build strong relationships, provide excellent service, and maintain high client retention and satisfaction.

● Brand evolution: Lead the strategic repositioning of the event brand, establishing clear market differentiation and a compelling value proposition that resonates with target exhibitors and buyers.
Requirements:
● At least 9 years of experience as an Event Manager or in Senior Sales/Marketing roles, specifically within events, with a preference for experience in luxury travel/ hospitality or high-end markets.
● Proven track record of planning and delivering large-scale, complex events catering to high-profile clients.
● Demonstrated success in leading or supporting sales teams and developing strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets.
● Experience in brand management, repositioning or marketing strategy preferred - ideally within luxury, travel or experiential sectors.
● Track record of translating brand strategy into commercial results, including brand development and customer acquisition.
● Comfortable leading creative and marketing teams to deliver a cohesive brand narrative across multiple touchpoints.
● Financial expertise, including experience in budget preparation, cost control, and financial reporting.
● Experience in evaluating and responding to market trends, client feedback, and event performance data to refine future strategies.
● Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
● Proficiency in developing and managing detailed event schedules, budgets, and timelines.
● Proven ability to design innovative event concepts and solutions while maintaining high attention to detail.
● Focused on achieving strategic goals, overcoming challenges, and delivering quality under pressure and tight deadlines.
● Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively to various stakeholders.
● Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships across internal teams, clients, and external vendors.
● A team-oriented approach with the ability to provide leadership, mentorship, and support to colleagues.
● Flexible and adaptable with a willingness to travel extensively, including international travel, as required.
● Perform additional ad hoc duties as required to support business operations and team objectives.
What youʼll do:
Event Planning and Coordination
● Develop and implement comprehensive event plans, including detailed timelines, floor plans, and logistical workflows.
● Coordinate effectively with internal teams and external vendors to manage logistics, ensuring seamless execution.
● Oversee on-site event execution to guarantee smooth operations and efficient handling of any challenges.
Budget and Resource Management
● Hold full budget and some P&L responsibility for their assigned event.
● Collaborate on the creation and oversight of event budgets, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
● Monitor and track expenditures, providing accurate financial updates to senior leadership.
● Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement them without compromising on the eventʼs quality or luxury.
Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement
● Ensure all events maintain and reflect This is Beyondʼs high standards of quality and exclusivity.
● Collect and analyse event feedback from attendees, clients, and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement.
● Contribute to the refinement and evolution of event processes to align with company standards and foster excellence.
● Models effective resource management while serving as a subject matter expert, and ensuring that technologies and methodologies align with broader operational goals.
Client and Stakeholder Management
● Accountable for achieving revenue, profitability, and audience targets for their assigned events. Whether directly owning P&L or working alongside senior leadership, they will drive commercial performance and ensure the event exceeds expectations.
● Build and nurture long-lasting relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, exhibitors, buyers, sponsors, and media.
● Manage client expectations by providing exceptional service and ensuring their satisfaction throughout the event cycle.
● Represent This is Beyond at client meetings and industry events, promoting the brandʼs vision and offerings.
Marketing and Promotion
● Collaborate closely with the marketing team to design and execute impactful event marketing strategies.
● Ensure the consistent and compelling promotion of events across various digital and traditional channels.
● Provide creative input for the ideation and development of marketing materials and event specific content.
● Models a results driven culture by inspiring teams to deliver exceptional outcomes, ensuring objectives are met through strong leadership, problem-solving, and skill development.
Team Leadership and Support
● Support and collaborate with a team to deliver their assigned event, ensuring the effective execution of event plans and supporting senior leaders in overseeing larger event teams.
● Mentor and guide team members at all levels, fostering their growth and professional development.
● Support the Sales and Marketing teams in their leadership journeys, ensuring they evolve as effective managers.
● Promote a collaborative, innovative, and positive team environment that encourages creative problem-solving.
● Act as the primary point of contact for the event team in the absence of senior leadership.
● Serve as a cultural ambassador, exemplifying integrity, professionalism, and positive behavior in all interactions.
Innovation
● Drive the development of unique and innovative event propositions to maintain market leadership.
● Proactively identify and explore new revenue opportunities through creative event enhancements.
● Models strategic leadership, guiding teams to reach their full potential, while fostering a collaborative culture and driving accountability and high standards of performance.
Event / Team Specific
● Lead Further Eastʼs brand repositioning and evolution of its current format.
● Work closely with Senior Marketing Manager and Portfolio Director to redefine the eventʼs identity and competitive positioning within the luxury travel market.
● Drive delegate retention through clearer brand articulation and improved delegate quality perception.
