Location: King’s Lynn, Norfolk Role: SEN Mental Health Teaching Assistant Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm Pay: £14.40 - £15.55 per hour (including 12.07% holiday pay) Contract: Temp to Perm Start: ASAP About the Role As an SEN Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting children who may have struggled in mainstream education. Working closely with teachers and therapists, you’ll help create a nurturing, structured environment where students can build confidence, improve focus, and develop essential life skills. This is more than just a classroom role; it’s about helping young people believe in themselves again. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and group support for students with SEMH or additional learning needs Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, offering consistency and calm reassurance Assist in delivering creative, engaging lessons tailored to each student’s needs Encourage independence and personal growth through positive reinforcement Support emotional regulation and behaviour management using trauma-informed strategies Collaborate with teachers and pastoral staff to ensure every child reaches their potential Please note: The role involves active engagement such as participating in play, helping students with movement, and supporting in moments of escalation using approved physical intervention techniques (training provided). What We’re Looking For GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths – Grade C/4 or above Experience supporting children with SEND, SEMH, or behavioural needs.
