Job Summary
To work as part of an autonomous and innovative team specialising in foot and lower limb pathologies. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, implementing and developing individualised assessment and treatment programmes for patients presenting with foot pathologies and medical needs across diverse settings, including clinical, domiciliary, hospital, and other external settings with a multidisciplinary approach.
Main Duties
* Complex assessment, diagnosis and treatment of new and existing patients with a wide variety of podiatric complaints, including systemic diseases, immunosuppressive disorders, vascular and neurological disorders, dermatological disorders, chronic pathologies, emergency treatments, wound management, musculo-skeletal disorders, paediatric conditions, deformities, nail and skin pathologies.
* Provide podiatric care plans tailored to patients' medical needs with regular review, identifying and coordinating further interventions and ensuring timely referrals to specialists such as GPs, district nursing, hospital acute foot clinic, social services and voluntary organisations.
* Deliver care to diverse patient groups including those with special needs, housebound, children, elderly, adults, vulnerable groups and individuals from varied cultural backgrounds, potentially with communication barriers.
* Demate clinical expertise in managing serious and high‑risk pathologies such as infected foot ulcers.
* Undertake specialist diabetes and high‑risk sessions for assessment and treatment of patients.

Qualifications

Skills
* Ability to diagnose, construct, document, implement and evaluate care plans using a holistic approach
* Decision‑making ability

* Proficiency with electronic resources (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills across age groups and with healthcare professionals
* Use of diagnostic and therapeutic equipment (doppler ultrasound, neurosthesiometer, gait analysis systems)
* Hand‑eye coordination, dexterity, manipulation, keyboard activity
Experience
* Essential – Minimum 1 year postgraduate experience treating a high‑risk caseload, including wound care and willingness to undertake postgraduate training in specialist podiatry areas such as diabetes.
* Post‑graduate experience in minor surgical procedures, biomechanics, local analgesia injection, full patient assessment, and coaching students.
* Desirable – Minimum 2 years postgraduate experience with diabetic and ischaemic foot ulceration, involvement in health education, evidence of work in specialist podiatry areas, clinical coaching training.
