We're looking for an experienced PMO Planner to provide high‑quality planning, scheduling, and project controls support across a diverse portfolio of programmes and projects.
You'll play a critical role in ensuring project timelines are realistic, risks are visible, progress is accurately tracked, and senior stakeholders have clear, reliable information to support decision‑making.
What you'll do
* developing, maintaining and optimising integrated project schedules using MS Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent tools
* working closely with project managers and workstream leads to define activities, durations, dependencies and critical paths
* ensuring plans reflect scope, resource availability and delivery constraints
* maintaining baseline schedules and managing schedule change control
* coordinating CAPEX, Capital Maintenance and OPEX elements of scheme delivery
* overseeing the Gateway process (Gates 0–5)
* tracking plan progress and producing regular schedule performance reports
* identifying schedule variances, delays and emerging risks, escalating issues proactively
* supporting forecasting of milestones, resource demand and completion dates
* producing PMO dashboards, KPIs, and status reports for governance forums
* supporting the identification and management of project risks, issues, and interdependencies
* integrating risk impacts into schedule forecasts
* ensuring mitigation actions are accurately reflected in project plans
* ensuring adherence to PMO standards, frameworks, and lifecycle processes
* supporting project reviews, stage gates, and audit activities
* maintaining robust project documentation and version control
* collaborating with project managers, workstream leads, finance teams, and resource managers
* facilitating planning workshops and scheduling review sessions
* communicating complex scheduling information clearly and confidently to a wide range of stakeholders.
What you'll need
* Proven experience in a PMO, project planning, or project controls role.
* Background in sectors such as IT, construction, engineering, defence, utilities, or business change.
* Knowledge of PRINCE2, APM, or PMI frameworks (certifications desirable).
* Strong Excel capability and experience with reporting tools (Power BI experience is a plus).
* Strong proficiency in project planning and scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera P6, or similar).
* Solid understanding of project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, hybrid).
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, risks, and issues.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
* Highly organised, detail‑focused, and methodical approach.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
