Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have experience working with vulnerable young people and want to make a genuine difference every day?
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist Secondary SEMH School in the Castlefield area of Manchester from September. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students who require additional emotional, behavioural, and academic support to achieve success both in and out of the classroom.
The Role
* Support students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
* Build strong, positive relationships with young people who may have experienced trauma or barriers to education.
* Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions.
* Support behaviour management strategies and promote positive engagement with learning.
* Encourage emotional regulation, social development, and independence.
* Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for all students.
What We're Looking For
We welcome applications from candidates with experience in:
* SEMH or SEND schools.
* Alternative provision settings.
* Youth work.
* Mental health support services.
* Residential care.
* Behaviour mentoring.
* Support worker or key worker roles.
Team Teach training is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided for suitable candidates.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Be calm, patient, and resilient under pressure.
* Have experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour or additional needs.
* Be able to build positive and professional relationships with students.
* Have a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
* Be committed to helping students overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes.
