Overview
Senior RME Technician role at Beam Projects. Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team keeps equipment performing at its best and supports innovation across Amazon’s fulfilment network. As a Senior RME Technician, you’ll help adopt new technologies, improve processes, and uphold high standards in maintenance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
* Demonstrate best practice in using equipment safely and monitor teams to ensure correct processes are followed
* Track equipment performance through visual checks, condition-based monitoring, and preventative maintenance; schedule additional servicing when required
* Supervise technicians on shift to support their development and act as the first point of contact for Reliability Maintenance Engineers
* Resolve equipment issues to reduce downtime and help operations process packages quickly
* Assist in continuously improving systems and standardising processes across the EU network
A day in the life
Each shift, lead a team to ensure equipment is ready and running properly, monitor processes to ensure regulatory and policy compliance, and ensure preventative maintenance is carried out to increase uptime. Propose and implement improvements across the EU-wide function, monitor processes with tools like Scada, and assist with admin tasks in collaboration with your line manager.
This role is located at an operational site and may involve shift patterns, including some weekends and nights. It offers progression into more senior roles within Amazon as you gain experience.
About The Team
Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team keeps equipment performing at its best. We are technically minded, work collaboratively, and troubleshoot and repair equipment across Amazon’s global network of fulfilment centres. The team focuses on reducing downtime and maintaining site safety and efficiency, with opportunities for progression within RME and across Amazon.
We work on installing automated packaging systems, maintaining sites, and repairing key distribution equipment, while ensuring compliance and safety. We may use cutting-edge technologies like Amazon Robotics and Complex Item Sorter.
Basic Qualifications
* A full Engineering indentured Apprenticeship and/or qualified to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering subject
* Relevant experience in a technical leadership role
* Relevant experience in both electrical and mechanical disciplines
* Relevant experience in automation or material handling equipment environments
* Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working in a multi-contractor and multi-site environment
* Understanding of PLC-based controls systems and statutory compliance requirements
* Experience using computerised maintenance management systems to plan proactive maintenance and record reactive tasks
* A degree preferably in a technical discipline or operations
