Purpose of the role
The Night Manager is responsible for delivering great overnight guest experiences, managing interactions, health and safety (including fire and food safety), and conducting end-of-day procedures and audits in line with SOPs. You will lead the night receptionist team through delegation, communication, support, and training, ensuring smooth and efficient overnight operations.
You will demonstrate proactive, solution-focused leadership with strong organisational skills. You are dedicated to guest satisfaction and operational excellence at all times.
Responsibilities
People
* Be part of the management team in all aspects of the day-to-day operation
* Take full responsibility for the building and the people during the night shift
* Lead the team to create cant-wait-to-return experiences for our guests
* Assist with general Front Office admin tasks, such as emails, responding to reviews, guest requests and arrival/departure checks
* Manage the night team rota, wage cost, holiday requests and ensure sufficient cover
* Train new staff members and handle HR tasks for the night team
* Lead team meetings with constructive feedback to improve operational performance and guest experiences
* Ensure the team handles reservation enquiries (email, phone & in-person) with a kind and considered approach
* Ensure the team takes payments and balances the books at the end of the day, following up on outstanding bills
* Ensure the team completes property patrols to maintain safety and security
* Be the go-to person for guest enquiries and questions
* Deal with housekeeping requests and maintenance issues during the night shift
* Demonstrate initiative in dealing with challenging situations or guest complaints to ensure guests leave happy
* Be confident working alone and be a positive influence when working as part of a team

Qualifications & Skills
* Previous nights or hotel reception experience
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to oversee and delegate work
* Warm, friendly, and approachable personality when dealing with staff and guests
* Passion for delivering extraordinary service at any time of day
* Flexibility with a Yes I Can! approach
* Attention to detail and creative problem-solving
* Strong verbal communication skills
* Good computer skills and knowledge of hotel systems is an advantage
