Quality Engineer – Quality Operations | Automotive Manufacturing | Sutton Coldfield
Are you an experienced Quality Engineer with a passion for driving continuous improvement and delivering exceptional customer satisfaction?
Due to continued growth and investment, our client is looking for a talented Quality Engineer to join their Quality Operations team in Minworth.
This is an exciting opportunity to become the Voice of the Customer within a thriving automotive manufacturing environment, where you'll play a pivotal role in resolving customer concerns, leading quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring world‑class quality standards are maintained across the business.
What You'll Be Doing
- Act as the primary customer contact and Voice of the Customer
- Lead customer escalations and drive timely resolution of quality concerns
- Coordinate and evaluate 8D investigations and CCAR activities
- Produce and analyse weekly and monthly KPI reports, including PPM, customer scorecards, incident rates and 8D status
- Drive corrective and preventive actions through to effective closure
- Support and mentor Quality Technicians
- Lead containment activities and support wider operational objectives
- Identify training and development opportunities within the quality function
- Manage Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) improvement initiatives
- Promote quality best practices across the organisation
- Deputise for the Senior Quality Engineer when required
Essential Experience & Skills
- Experience within an automotive manufacturing or automotive supplier environment
- Background in plastics injection moulding processes
- Strong knowledge of quality tools including SPC, MSA, PFMEA, PPAP, Control Plans
- Experience using 8D problem‑solving methodologies and QRQC
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities
- Strong communication and customer‑facing skills
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Degree or Diploma in Quality Management
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
- Metrology and measurement equipment experience
- Paint process knowledge
- 3+ years' experience within moulding processes
