An SEN school is looking for a caring, committed, and proactive Child Care Assistant to support our wonderful students on a long-term, full-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an Outstanding-rated special school that delivers personalised education and care to children and young people aged 4 to 16 with a wide range of complex needs.

About the school:

They pride themselves on being a nurturing and inclusive community where every pupil is seen, valued, and supported to achieve their best. Their 236 students have a range of needs including PMLD, SLD, MLD, ASD, and physical disabilities. Many of their learners require 1:1 or small group support, and all benefit from a highly structured, positive, and therapeutic environment.

The Role - Child Care Assistant:

As a Child Care Assistant, you will play an essential part in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff, you will help deliver individualised learning plans and provide the consistent, compassionate support our pupils need to succeed.

Your daily duties as a Child Care Assistant will include:

1. Supporting pupils with communication needs through visual aids, PECS, Makaton or AAC
2. Helping to manage behaviour through positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies
3. Assisting with feeding and physical movement (manual handling training is provided)
4. Supporting students in therapy sessions, life skills activities, and outdoor learning

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

5. Has experience working with children with complex SEN, medical, or physical care needs (or is willing to learn)
6. Is confident, calm under pressure, and emotionally resilient
7. Is team-focused and able to build strong, trusting relationships with both staff and students
8. Understands the importance of routine, structure, and clear communication in an SEN setting

This Child Care Assistant role requires someone with a genuine passion for inclusive education and a desire to support students who face significant challenges with learning, health, and mobility. The impact you will have on their day-to-day life is immeasurable.

What they offer:

9. An experienced and supportive team environment
10. Ongoing CPD including SEN, safeguarding, and care-related training
11. A meaningful and rewarding long-term opportunity
12. A chance to contribute to an Outstanding school where every role matters

If you're ready to take on a fulfilling role as a Child Care Assistant, and want to be part of a vibrant, specialist community where no two days are ever the same - Hill Park School wants to hear from you.

Not quite the right role for you? We have a range of positions across SEN and specialist settings - feel free to contact us or pass this opportunity on to someone who may be interested.
