Position: Senior Mechanical Engineer (Power & Propulsion)
Location: Scotstoun (On site)
Salary: Up to GBP45,000, dependent on skills and experience
Responsibilities
1. Develop, maintain, and modify engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas based on technical developments and operational needs.
2. Conduct technical analyses and investigations, evaluate options, and prepare reports with recommendations to resolve problems and enhance engineering capabilities.
3. Prepare specifications, develop designs according to standards, and perform design appraisals to ensure quality and compliance.
4. Investigate operational problems and develop solutions, either individually or as part of a team.
5. Support the Principal Engineer as the primary contact with customers and suppliers on engineering matters.
6. Assist in identifying business opportunities and preparing bids in your area of expertise.
7. Mentor less experienced team members to support their development and effective work.
8. Make engineering decisions within your scope of responsibility.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
* Extensive experience in engineering or marine-related industries.
* Degree in a STEM discipline or significant mechanical experience in the marine industry.
Desirable:
* Effective communication skills and proficiency in software like MS Office, AutoCAD, Foran, etc.
* Experience with Marine Propulsion equipment design or work.
Qualifications
Engineers should possess an engineering or related STEM qualification and be recognized as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers. Support for achieving relevant professional accreditation is provided. Preference given to candidates already registered.

About the Team
The Power & Propulsion team is involved in naval ship construction for the Royal Navy, with on-site support during equipment installation and commissioning, working across multiple ship programs and export contracts.
