Job Description:
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing and optimising mechanical systems and components for photonics applications. The role involves working closely with cross-function teams to create high-precision, reliable and innovative solutions that support the company’s photonic technologies.
Responsibilities
* Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies and systems for photonic devices
* Use CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks) to create detailed 3D models, drawings and assembly instructions
* Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements
* Optimise mechanical designs to enhance system performance, reduce weight and minimize thermal and vibration impacts
* Implement solutions for precise alignment, mounting, and thermal management of photonics systems
* Develop prototypes and conduct rigorous testing to validate mechanical designs and ensure they meet specifications and quality standards
* Analyse test data to identify performance issues, validate design changes and ensure compliance with technical requirements
* Maintain accurate and comprehensive documents of design processes, testing procedures and engineering changes
* Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations and quality management systems
Qualifications
* 5 years plus experience in mechanical design and engineering preferably in photonics
* Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, or related field
* Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks)
* Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to details and ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
* Ability to present technical information clearly with strong communication skills both verbal and written
