IT Systems Engineer (Hybrid) Location: ContractSupport Office Reporting to: Technology Operations Lead Responsible for: None (no direct reports) About the Role We are looking for an experienced IT Systems Engineer to join our Technology Operations team within the Information & Technology Department.This is primarily an on-premises infrastructure role, supporting Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and storage systems, while assisting with cloud migration projects as we transition to a Microsoft Azure-focused strategy. You will ensure our IT infrastructure is secure, reliable, and optimized for performance, while maintaining compliance with ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, and NIST standards. Key Responsibilities Manage Active Directory, Azure AD, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and core infrastructure services. Maintain and optimize Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) environments (physical and virtual). Administer Hyper-V virtualization, HPE servers, and storage systems (NAS/SAN). Implement backup, disaster recovery (DR), and business continuity strategies. Collaborate with the cybersecurity team on patching, hardening, and threat protection. Monitor network performance, server uptime, and system health using tools like SolarWinds. Apply best practices in identity and access management (MFA, RBAC, conditional access). Assist with cloud migration and Azure workload deployments. Ensure compliance with ITIL processes and security frameworks. Essential Skills & Experience 3 years in IT Operations, focusing on Windows infrastructure and storage solutions. ITIL v4 Foundation certification. Strong knowledge of: Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) Active Directory / Azure AD / ADFS Hyper-V virtualization Backup and DR solutions SCCM / SCVMM Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation. Networking fundamentals (firewalls, load balancers). Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds). Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills. Desirable: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate (AZ-800/801). Knowledge of Cisco networking and firewalls.
