Working as part of the team responsible for the preparation of archival records for relocation, the Project Assistant Archivist will work on a project to document selected holdings from the Museum's archive prior to moving. This involves surveying, appraising, cataloguing, and digitising records in accordance with relevant standards, assessing preservation and conservation needs, and making storage recommendations. The role supports the Project Archivist in meeting project deadlines aligned with Museum priorities, ensuring collection security and preservation, and maintaining access during moves. Please note, we are recruiting for 2 roles.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Supporting the Project Archivist in preparing archival records for relocation.
2. Appraising relevant archival collections as directed by senior staff.
3. Arranging and cataloguing holdings according to ISAD(G) standards.
4. Preparing items for digitisation.
5. Providing access to archival holdings following guidelines.
Qualifications and experience required:
* Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
* Proven technical and professional information management skills.
* Experience handling fragile archive records.
* Understanding of archive cataloguing standards.
* Experience in records management or archiving in public or private sectors.
