Job Title: 2nd Line IT Support Engineer – Local Government
Location: South-West London
Rate: £250 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract Length: 2 months (initially – likely to extend)
Start Date: ASAP
Working Arrangement: Fully office-based (no remote working)
A South-West London local authority is seeking an experienced 2nd Line IT Support Engineer to join their in-house support team on a contract basis. This is a hands-on, user-facing role in a fast-paced public sector environment.
Key Requirements:
✅ Previous Local Government experience is essential
✅ You must be located within a commutable distance to South-West London
✅ Minimum of 4 years’ experience in 2nd line IT support roles
Technical Skills:
1. Strong support experience across Windows 10, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory
2. Hands-on with Azure, Intune, SCCM, and MDM solutions
3. Confident supporting VPNs, remote access tools, and Microsoft MFA
4. Experience with Azure AD / Entra ID and managing user permissions
5. Familiar with ITSM tools ( ServiceNow, Remedy, Ivanti) and working within ITIL-aligned processes
6. Able to support mobile devices (iOS & Android), laptops, desktops, and perform hardware diagnostics
7. Comfortable liaising with third-party vendors and escalating issues where required
8. Skilled in troubleshooting both software and hardware issues across a variety of environments
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in an on-site support setting, has a background in Local Government, and can hit the ground running in a complex technical environment.
