Lancashire Educational Psychology Service (EPS) would very much welcome applications from those who are inspired and able to engage others in achieving the best possible outcomes for children and young people. We comprise three dynamic, friendly and supportive teams of educational psychologists (EPs), who are committed to optimising outcomes for children and young people and providing support and help to those who need it.

We are looking for innovative EPs who are passionate about applying psychology across a range of contexts. We have a new, exciting and evolving Service offer for 25/26 which has a community psychology lens and a focus on group consultation-led reflection to support systemic change. You will need to be creative in developing workshops with colleagues on topics relevant to the needs of your district. You will need to utilise your consultation skills to support settings to review practice and consider implementation of new approaches.

You will also be responsible for providing psychological services which promote educational outcomes and emotional well-being, which may include delivery of emotional literacy support assistant (ELSA) training and early years workshops for practitioners and parent carers. The EPS work with the Virtual School Team, where EPs use psychological frameworks to facilitate problem solving discussions. As we increase service capacity, the EPS will continue to develop packages of support with schools and other partners, with opportunities to develop our barriers to education support as well as work with secondary schools to support inclusion for neurodiverse young people.

Our working groups enable EPs to utilise their wide range of research interests,. communication and technology, and social, emotional and mental health. These working groups also support wider local authority priorities.

Every Educational Psychologist in Lancashire is:

1. linked to one or more districts of schools.
2. responsible for providing consultations and completing individual casework, including statutory work.
3. able to become involved in the development of training to schools and the wider workforce.
4. able to participate in project work that utilises their specialist knowledge and/or their particular interests alongside other psychologists from across the county.

Lancashire EPS has a generous allocation of time for continuing professional development (CPD) which includes:

5. individual and peer reflective supervision.
6. the opportunity to supervise Trainee EPs or Assistant EPs if you are eligible and would like to do so (which is awarded an additional salary scale point for the duration of the supervision).
7. monthly CPD Service Days in which all three EP teams come together with a focus on supporting the CPD needs of the EPS as a whole and service development.
8. the opportunity to become involved in the internal CPD planning group.
9. the opportunity to become a member of the North-West EP CPD Conference steering group which plans the annual North-West EP CPD Conference that is successfully hosted in Lancashire.

We would very much welcome applications from fully qualified and HCPC registered Educational Psychologists and also those in training who would like to be part of these exciting developments in Lancashire. We offer part-time in addition to full time posts.
