A well-established investment management firm is seeking a Senior Bereavement Associate to join its Complex Case Team based in Manchester. This role provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by guiding clients through sensitive circumstances with professionalism and care. You will help ensure accuracy and consistency across bereavement processes for a broad investment product range, while also contributing to ongoing enhancements in service quality and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Care & Case Management
* Take ownership of complex bereavement cases and manage your own caseload with diligence and empathy.
* Deliver timely, clear, and compliant communication to clients at various stages of the bereavement journey.
* Support vulnerable clients, identifying needs and implementing solutions that promote the best possible outcomes.
Expert Guidance & Training
* Share your subject-matter expertise by providing guidance and training to colleagues across the business.
* Participate in working groups focused on legislative changes (e.g., inheritance tax) and recommend process improvements to strengthen overall bereavement operations.
Continuous Improvement
* Identify trends and opportunities for automation to enhance client experience and operational efficiency.
* Contribute to special projects and strategic initiatives as required.
Required Experience & Skills
* Proven experience managing sensitive and complex bereavement cases, ideally involving high-net-worth clients.
* Strong understanding of probate procedures and inheritance tax legislation.
* Solid knowledge of pension-related products, including SIPPs.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage emotionally challenging conversations with empathy and professionalism.
* Experience working with Pension Trustees for beneficiary decisions is advantageous.
* CII R04 qualification would be beneficial.
Qualifications
* Relevant experience in bereavement case management, estate administration, or financial services operations.
* Professional qualifications in financial planning or pensions (e.g., CII modules) are desirable but not essential.
