Contract Type: Long-Term Temporary (Temp to Perm Opportunity)

Working Hours: Full-Time (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday)

About the School:

Humly North East is working with a welcoming and vibrant primary school, committed to providing high-quality education in a nurturing and inclusive environment. We strive to create a stimulating atmosphere where children are encouraged to achieve their full potential. Our dedicated staff team works collaboratively to ensure the smooth running of the school and the best possible outcomes for our pupils.

We are now seeking a School Business Manager (SBM) to join one of our school's senior leadership team. This is a long-term temporary role with the potential to become permanent, offering a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and proactive individual looking to make a meaningful contribution to the success of our school.

Key Responsibilities:

As the School Business Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic planning, financial management, and operational leadership of the school. You will work closely with the Headteacher and Governors to ensure the efficient use of resources and the smooth running of all support functions.

Finance & Budgeting:

* Manage the school's budget, ensuring compliance with local authority and DfE regulations.
* Prepare regular financial reports for the Headteacher and Governing Body.
* Monitor income and expenditure, manage procurement, and ensure value for money.
* Lead on funding applications, grant opportunities, and other income generation initiatives.

HR & Personnel:

* Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and HR administration for school staff.
* Ensure compliance with safer recruitment policies and employment legislation.
* Liaise with HR providers regarding staff contracts, payroll, and personnel matters.

Premises & Health and Safety:

* Manage the maintenance, security, and development of the school premises.
* Ensure the school is compliant with health and safety legislation and risk assessments are up to date.
* Liaise with contractors, cleaners, and site management teams.

Administration & Compliance:

* Lead and manage the school's administrative support staff and office functions.
* Oversee the school's data management systems (e.g., SIMS/Arbor).
* Ensure compliance with statutory reporting and returns to the DfE and local authority.

IT & Infrastructure:

* Manage the school's IT infrastructure contracts and liaise with external providers as necessary.
* Ensure systems are secure, efficient, and support effective teaching and learning.

Person Specification:

Essential:

* Proven experience in a similar School Business Manager or finance/operations leadership role.
* Excellent financial management and budgetary skills.
* Strong knowledge of HR, premises, health & safety, and administrative management within a school setting.
* Proficient in using school management systems (e.g., SIMS, FMS, Arbor).
* Ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
* Flexible, proactive, and able to work under pressure.

Desirable:

* Relevant qualification in School Business Management (e.g., CSBM, DSBM).
* Knowledge of local authority school finance systems.
* Experience working within a primary school setting.
