About the role:
The main aim of the role is to be responsible for the provision of an efficient and effective Point of Care Testing (POCT) service provided by Health Services Laboratories to The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust. TO provide managerial, operational and technical responsibility for the POCT service. You will provide regular reporting to senior management. To deputise for Point of Care Testing Leads including travel to sites within the geographical region, as required.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
• Line management of POCT Associate Practitioners.
• Produce monthly reports for key internal and external stakeholders.
• Chair departmental and actively participate in external meetings.
• Responsible for scheduling and delivery of Link Trainer and user training and to ensure clinical staff are familiar with analytical procedures, maintenance and troubleshooting of POCT equipment via adequate training and competency assessment.
• Interpretation of Internal Quality Control (IQC) and EQA (External Quality Assessment) performance data and reporting to stakeholders.
• Work with QMG (Quality Management Group) to ensure the POCT service is maintained to the highest standards as required by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Services).
• Taking a lead in new device validations/upgrades/changes within POCT.
• Lead on service development and increase in service scope, with a view to extend into community settings in due course.
• Taking a lead in updating and producing documentation within POCT.
