Job Overview
Are you passionate about working with people who have had a stroke, ensuring they receive the best therapy assessment and rehabilitation whilst an inpatient in an acute hospital? Then this opportunity is for you.
We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to share well-developed clinical and leadership skills to support the ongoing development of this dynamic and proactive team.
As the successful candidate you will be responsible for the clinical delivery of highly specialised Occupational Therapy for patients with complex neurological assessment and rehabilitation needs.
You will offer skilled clinical leadership and will facilitate supervision and training of staff within the team. You will work as a vital part of the team and vital for the continued development of the service

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Degree level qualification or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
* State registration with HCPC
* Evidence of relevant advanced post-graduate clinical training e.g. Masters level clinical training
Desirable criteria
* Attendance at NHS Leadership programme
Experience
Essential criteria
* Experience of working with patients with stroke, complex brain injury or neurological impairments
* Postgraduate experience including working as a Band 6 Occupational Therapist
Desirable criteria
* Membership at COT - Specialist Clinical Interest Group
* Previous experience at Band 7 level
* Evidence of team leadership skills including the management and development of different levels of OT staff
* Evidence of quality improvement initiatives
Technical Skill
Essential criteria
* Ability to assess, manage and treat neurological conditions, and patients with complex multi pathologies at specialist level
* Clinical training of less experienced occupational therapy staff and staff from other professions
* Lead in audit and clinical governance issues.
* High level of occupational therapy clinical skills, knowledge and clinical reasoning with a wide range of in-patients
Knowledge

* Specialist knowledge of a wide range of neurological rehabilitation techniques including cognitive rehabilitation
