Principal / Associate Civil Engineer
Bristol/Cardiff/Bridgend
£55,000 – £65,000 (DOE) + bonus
We are working in partnership with a well-established Chartered Civil & Structural Engineering consultancy as they continue to strengthen their senior leadership team across the Southwest and South Wales. Known for delivering smart, commercially driven engineering solutions, the consultancy supports a diverse client base on projects throughout the UK.
With offices in Bristol, Cardiff and Bridgend, the business promotes a highly collaborative culture where technical excellence, professional integrity and long-term client relationships are fundamental to successful project delivery.
The Role
This opportunity is ideal for an accomplished Principal or Associate-level Civil Engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects, teams and client relationships. You will have a key role in leading technical delivery, guiding project teams and supporting existing clients, while also contributing to the ongoing growth and direction of the consultancy.
The role combines hands-on engineering with leadership and strategic involvement, making it well suited to someone looking to solidify or progress their position within senior consultancy leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Overall responsibility for the delivery of civil engineering projects across a range of sectors
Lead, mentor and develop small to medium-sized teams to ensure high technical standards and efficient delivery
Act as a trusted technical lead and main point of contact for key clients
Manage project performance, including programmes, resources and financial control
Provide technical oversight, mentoring and line management to junior and mid-level engineers
Work closely with architects, contractors and statutory authorities
Ensure compliance with current standards, legislation and industry best practice
Contribute to the continued growth, profile and reputation of the consultancyAbout You
Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
Chartered status (ICE or equivalent preferred)
Extensive experience within a UK civil engineering consultancy
Demonstrable experience leading teams and managing projects from inception to completion
Strong technical background in infrastructure, drainage and highways design
Commercially astute with confidence in managing client relationships
Comfortable operating at a senior level within a multidisciplinary environment
