Job description
If you want a senior role where your work is seen, valued, and directly connected to how the business performs, this is worth a look.
I’m working with a private equity-backed professional services group based near Pride Park — modern, growing, and genuinely rethinking how finance partners the wider business.
They’ve recently been recognised as one of the Best Companies “Ones to Watch”, with a big focus on wellbeing, culture, and doing things the right way. Backed by investment, they’re expanding nationally through organic growth and acquisition, and they’re building a reputation for a people-first, continuous-improvement mindset.
The business is at that point where stronger systems, better insight and tighter financial control will make a huge impact on performance — and that’s exactly what this role is here to deliver.
The role
You’ll report directly into the Finance Director and work closely with the BI Manager, commercial teams, and department heads. It’s a genuinely varied role with proper ownership — a blend of technical, commercial and leadership responsibilities.
You’ll be responsible for:
* Producing monthly board packs that give real clarity and drive better decisions.
* Partnering with revenue and operational teams to improve performance and accountability.
* Managing the revenue and cash allocation cycle, keeping things watertight and well-controlled.
* Overseeing cash flow forecasting, budgeting and long-term planning.
* Monitoring KPIs and highlighting trends, risks and opportunities.
* Supporting year-end, audit and broader finance improvements as the business scales.
It’s a hands-on role with plenty of visibility — you’ll be involved in conversations that shape how the business operates, not just how the numbers are reported.
What they’re looking for
* A qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
* Experience operating at senior level with a mix of technical and commercial skills.
* Someone confident partnering with non-finance teams and bringing clarity to complex situations.
* Good communicator, improvement-minded, and comfortable taking ownership.
Why it’s worth a conversation
* PE-backed business with genuine growth ahead.
* Culture that values people, ideas, and doing things properly.
* A role with influence, visibility and plenty of variety.
* Flexibility: full-time or 4-day week.
* Office-first in Derby HQ with home-working when needed.
* £60,000–£70,000 basic + bonus + benefits
