SEN Teaching Assistant - Barking | Full-Time | September Start
We are currently recruiting for experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join a well-regarded specialist school in Barking, supporting students with a range of complex needs including severe learning difficulties, autism, and challenging behaviour.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about inclusive education and confident working with pupils who require consistent, specialist support in a structured environment.
About the role:
* Full-time, Monday to Friday
* Working 1:1 and in small groups across key stages
* Supporting students with ASD, severe learning difficulties, and complex emotional and behavioural needs
* Assisting with personal care and daily routines
* Using visual aids, communication tools, and sensory strategies
* Implementing positive behaviour support techniques
What we're looking for:
* Proven experience in SEN settings (SLD, PMLD, ASD, SEMH)
* Confident managing challenging behaviour and using de-escalation strategies
* Patient, reliable, and adaptable
* Comfortable providing personal care when needed
* A calm and supportive presence in the classroom
Desirable but not essential:
* Team Teach or other behaviour management training
* Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or augmentative communication tools
Location: BarkingStart Date: September (with opportunities for immediate trial days)Pay: £95-£120 per day (depending on experience)
