Village health Group (VHG) is a large multi-site GP Practice in Rushcliffe, South Nottinghamshire. The 4 sites are located at Keyworth, East Leake, Ruddington & Sutton Bonington.

There is an exciting opportunity to join the VHG group as it goes through a period of change and restructure and a chance to enjoy a vibrant and forward-thinking primary care team, working closely with all colleagues in the VHG team.

We are looking to recruit a full-time receptionist position, applicants must be organised and self-sufficient, with the ability to greet patients and answer telephones in a confident, professional and courteous manner, direct calls, take messages, and provide a first class service to patients of the practice.


Main duties of the job

Administration experience in a fast-paced environment is essential, with the ability to think on your feet and demonstrate a pro-active approach to problem solving. The successful candidates will also need to be able to travel to any of the 4 sites as required, so a driving licence and access to transport will be essential.

A background in a related administrative role would be useful but is not essential, but a desire to learn is a must. The successful candidates will need to have a flexible approach and be able to work in a busy team at any of the 4 sites as required. Providing cover during busy periods and sickness is essential for this role.

Job responsibilities

Receptionist - Job Description

Job Title:Receptionist

Responsible to:Reception Manager

Responsible for:N/A

Job Purpose:To ensure that the reception area of the Practice runs smoothly, provides a high level of service to patients, doctors, nurses and other members of the Practice team

Duties and Responsibilities

Telephone Duties

1.Making appointments

2.Taking requests for prescriptions from housebound patients

3.Giving out results

4.Ambulance transport bookings for on the day service

5.Home visit requests

6.Deal with general enquiries and complaints

7.Contacting other providers

Reception Duties

8.Register new patients and temporary residents, when required

9.Greet and direct patients and visitors

10.Making appointments

11.Handing out prescriptions

12.Ensure outstanding queries are explained and handed over to next shift, as necessary

13.Respond to needs of doctors and nurses during surgery

14.Collect payments from patients for non-NHS services

15.Deal with general enquiries and complaints

Filing

16.Filing and retrieving paperwork as requested (eg. Lloyd George envelopes)

Prescriptions

17.Dealing with requests for repeat prescriptions

18.Raising prescriptions as per Practice protocols

19.Dealing with queries relating to prescriptions

General

20.Input and extract information from Practice computer system

21.Observe health and safety guidelines at all times

22.General housekeeping (e.g. keeping reception and waiting areas tidy)

23.Any other reasonable duties as necessary

24.Observe Confidentiality policy and guidelines at all times

25.Opening up / locking up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols

26.Have an overview of admin tasks (eg. cytology admin, recalls)
