This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a diverse team on a children’s day unit comprised of 15 spaces. Snow Fox unit delivers a unique nurse led service designed for children who only require a short stay in hospital. We provide planned care for children from newborn to 18 years of age under many specialities. This includes children receiving treatment for chronic conditions as well as those undergoing routine procedures and diagnostic investigations.
We are looking for a motivated band 6 nurse to join our dynamic and highly skilled team to deliver an outstanding standard of nurse led care to children and their families. We pride ourselves in the development opportunities we can offer and the teaching and guidance we provide to assist those wanting to develop their skills and careers further.

Main duties of the job
To be a confident, dynamic children’s nurse to assist the ward manager in leading and managing junior members of staff and students. You must be a registered children’s nurse with extensive clinical experience within paediatric setting and must hold a mentorship qualification or equivalent.
To act as a role model by upholding the trust values to provide clinical leadership to a designated nursing team and ensure the provision of high quality nursing care to children and families.
To assist in the safe, effective and efficient management of the department within allocated resources.
To promote a progressive attitude to the continual improvement of nurse led patient care through research and evidence based practice. you will work closely with ward manager and the multidisciplinary team in developing the service we provide through innovative service improvement.
To maintain excellent written and oral communication skills and to be an active member of the multidisciplinary team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
-As the senior on the floor, to support and guide Junior member of the team.
-Promote high quality clinical care, and assist in the development of the specialist Nurse led service, through the use of evidence based practice and clinical standards
-Facilitate a high quality, cost effective specialist service through monitoring and audit and other quality initiatives agreed by the Trust
-To assist the Sister/Charge Nurse in developing a culture that is challenging, stimulating, rewarding and supportive.
-Provide a leadership role model and demonstrate specialist knowledge and high standards of clinical practice and provide support or advice when necessary.
-In Leading and co-ordinating the day-to-day management of the clinical area, delegates duties and care appropriately whilst maintaining overall responsibility.
-Ensures that staffing and skill mix is maintained, at all times, to a level that does not compromise patient safety.
-To be involved in the development, assessment and implementation of guidelines, protocols and pathways.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
1. Registered Paediatric Nurse.
2. Degree/diploma relevant to area or equivalent experience
3. All staff are expected to take responsibility for their own continual personal development
EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE
