About us
Buckinghamshire Council is a relatively new organisation that combines the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the county to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses. We are firmly focused on the future and have made a clear commitment to serve residents better and to provide stronger representation for Buckinghamshire, both locally and nationally.
About the role
You will be part of The Client Transport Compliance and Safeguarding Team. The role has been created due to the increased responsibilities the team are now experiencing and the important need for consistency of staff carrying out this role. Your role will specifically relate to being part of the Aylesbury School Coach Park Team.
The role is wide-ranging from ensuring that coaches leave on time to the safeguarding responsibilities of students that miss their transport. It is hugely rewarding and to the right candidate, the Coach Park Assistant will find it fulfilling and extremely enjoyable whilst at the same time having the satisfaction of delivering a vital service for Buckinghamshire Council.
The main requirement of the role is to ensure the Health, Safety and Welfare of the students within the coach park. You would also be responsible to ensure that vehicles arrive and depart on time and report incidents of late operation, poor practice and/or student behaviour to the relevant authority in a timely way.
Size and scope: Approximately 1500 students and around 30 vehicles per day use the coach park.
Fixed
As a ‘fixed’ worker, you’ll spend most of your time in the same location, which will likely be a fixed office or location where your role is performed. Typically, you’ll be based in the same location as the rest of your team, because you provide a particular service from that fixed location or need access to information there.
About you
The role is extremely varied, and no two days seem to be the same, but your main roles will be
1. To ensure the coaches are in their allocated lane and leave at the scheduled time.
2. To make sure the Health and Safety policies for the coach park are being implemented and followed.
3. Answer any questions the students have relating to their transport
4. In the event of a student missing their coach ensure they are directed back to school where alternative arrangements can be made.
5. Report any incidents that occur to both managers and school staff if necessary.
6. Return any lost property to schools.
We are actively seeking responsible and reliable persons to fulfil this role
