We have a number of exciting opportunities to join our Environmental Health team vacancies in the following roles:
* Environmental Health Team Manager (Pollution & Housing)
* Environmental Health Practitioners (Pollution)
* Environmental Health Technical Officers (Pollution)
We are looking for experienced, committed and hard-working individuals to contribute to the work of the Environmental Protection & Housing team responding to a variety of issues across the borough. Your duties will include investigation and response to complaints in relation to alleged Statutory Nuisances, public health and pest control; provision of advice to residents, businesses and other stakeholders across a range of similar issues; and, assisting council colleagues and partner agencies achieve their aims (e.g. Planning, Empty Homes and Licensing).
The Team Manager will also be responsible for overseeing the work of the team delivering the Council’s priorities in respect of Private Sector Housing. We have 300 licensed HMOs and are currently exploring the possibility of introducing a Selective Licensing scheme.
Ideally, you will have previous experience of working in a local government enforcement environment, which will include a working knowledge in the practical application of relevant legislation such as the Environmental Protection Act 1990. Your abilities will include excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work with residents, businesses and colleagues as well as a range of related agencies.
