Grounds Maintenance Operative (x2)

Thorn Baker are recruiting for 2 Grounds Maintenance Operatives to join a local council’s Green Spaces team based in Ilkeston.
This is a great opportunity for experienced operatives who are confident working across a variety of outdoor environments, helping maintain high standards across public spaces.
Hours:
* Monday to Thursday: 07:30 – 16:00
* Friday: 07:30 – 12:30
Pay:
* Weeks 0–12: £12.71 per hour
* Weeks 13–52: £13.26 per hour
* Weeks 52+: £13.47 per hour
Duties include:
* Grass cutting across highways, open spaces, and cemeteries
* Operating pedestrian and ride-on mowers (rotary and cylinder)
* Using strimmers, hedge cutters, and other grounds maintenance equipment
* General upkeep of public green spaces
* Working safely and efficiently as part of a team
What we’re looking for:
* Experience in grounds maintenance or similar outdoor roles
* PA1/PA6 certification (preferred)
* Competence using mowers, strimmers, and hedge cutters
* Chainsaw certification (desirable)
* Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all conditions
* Reliable, safety-conscious, and a good team player
