Your new role at NewDay
We’re looking for an Associate Product Designer with experience in UX and UI to join the Product Design team in our London office.
You’ll be working on our consumer facing mobile apps (iOS and Android) helping our customers to manage their accounts.
You’ll be working in a squad, alongside a skilled and resourceful team of developers, product owners, data and business analysts.
You'll play a key role in delivering end-to-end product experiences, guiding the process from research and discovery to ideation, prototyping, and user-testing, followed by product launch, measuring, and ongoing improvements.
* Research activities. Conducting user research and testing to gain a deep understanding of our users. Reviewing data with Analysts to understand and measure behaviours. Conducting comparative analysis to understand feature gaps. Review existing journeys to identify areas of optimisation.
* Experience mapping. Understanding our users’ goals, desires, and expectations. Mapping the experience, journeys and flows to help us prioritise pain-points and opportunities.
* Ideating. Working with your squad to develop ideas and prioritise. Plan and facilitate co-creation workshops.
* Crafting user interfaces. Translating your concepts into appealing UI design wireframes and clickable prototypes with a strong focus on Responsive Web Design principles. Provide a design spec to aid in implementation.
* Testing and learning. Using a variety of testing approaches and tactics; card sorting, clickable prototypes, usability studies, tree testing, think out loud studies, A/B and multi variant testing.
* Measuring and iterating. Measuring the outcomes of your work with your squad. Iterating and prioritising identified areas of improvement.
* Planning and Prioritising. Working closely with the squad to plan and prioritise new features and functionality, optimisations, and areas of focus together.
* Review implementation. Working together with the developers you will aid in implementation and review the final output before it’s shipped.
* Growing the design system. Designing new components, layouts, grids, flows and interactions which will feed into our design system and component library.
* Evolving! We’re continually looking to improve and evolve our process by trying new techniques and removing obsolete ones to ultimately ship better products.
What you’ll bring
We need knowledge, experience + expertise in:
* You can demonstrate a good level of end-to-end product design competencies. You’ll have shipped some features and iterations, perhaps on a native mobile app. You’ll have been a product designer for some time.
* A natural collaborator – We highly encourage collaboration within the team, and believe it is a core requirement for this role. You’ll be working with a cross-functional team made up of Product Owners, Developers and Analysts, as well as adopting feedback from the wider Product Design team and other business partners.
* Experienced knowledge of design and research tools. You’ll have mastered the likes of Figma, FigJam, Adobe Creative Suite, UserZoom and MS Office. Nice to have – Dovetail and Frontitude.
* Knowledge of Agile methodologies. You’ll have experience in working within scrum teams and aware of the ceremonies that take place and are comfortable participating.
* Clear and confident communicator that can present, demo, and articulate their design decisions to your squad and to our senior business partners.
* Understanding of Accessibility standards (WCAG AA). To help us strive towards shipping products that are inclusive and accessible to everyone.
* Self-motivated and curious. You’ll be self-driven and proactive to take ownership of your design decisions. You’ll love asking the why’s and questions that truly understand the users’ needs and business objectives. And lastly, a desire to learn and develop your craft.
And would love you to know or learn:
* User research and testing
