We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic Deputy Headteacher (DH) to join our leadership team.As Deputy Headteacher, you will play a key role in supporting the Headteacher in all aspects of school management and development.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled, enthusiastic and ambitious leader to join our committed Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate will work within our supportive environment to contribute to the success of our pupils at our thriving College by providing a holistic educational experience with a strong focus on well-being and mental fitness. The role will also be pivotal in developing our shared vision and strategic plan for the College.
Job Purpose
The Deputy Headteacher (DH) will support, deputise and assist the Headteacher by providing dynamic leadership and management in support of the College’s vision and values in everyday work and practice. They will also develop and motivate staff, set high expectations, embed learning and teaching strategies and raise achievement.
The DH will take a central role as part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), provide leadership in and have ownership specifically of the following areas:
Safeguarding – be the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the College.
Mental Health and Wellbeing – line manage and work closely with the Head of Pastoral and Co-Curricular (HoP) to ensure the College maintains award-winning provision for pupils and staff and proactively assess new trends and leads innovation in this area.
Pastoral, Behaviour and Rewards – work closely with the HoP to ensure the relevant policies are kept up-to-date and support the Heads of Houses (HoHs) in managing pupils’ behaviour and celebrating their achievements.
6th Form, Prep School and Careers - line manage the Heads of Departments and tutors and actively seek to improve the College’s offer.
The DH will lead and manage specific operational areas of the College as described under Duties and Responsibilities and will be assigned responsibility for a number of policies relating to the operational areas of responsibility. They will have a reduced timetable of lessons per week to allow for the responsibilities of the role.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* Qualified Teacher Status and eligibility to work in the UK.
* Proven experience of senior leadership.
* Proven knowledge and understanding of safeguarding practice.
* Proven experience of teaching pupils with SEND.
* Experience of managing, coaching and mentoring staff.
* Excellent personal, oral and written presentation skills.
* Experience of responsibility for developing, monitoring and evaluating an aspect of school.
* Ability to lead with energy, enthusiasm and tenacity to provide an environment where others feel valued and motivated.
