Job Summary CNS - Hepatocellular Carcinoma Surveillance - 2 Year Fixed Term. We're thrilled to introduce an exciting new opportunity within our Hepatology Nursing Service at GWH. This pioneering role will be instrumental in shaping and launching a nurse-led liver surveillance pathway a vital initiative designed to enhance care for patients with stable, compensated liver cirrhosis, as well as those at elevated risk of developing Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC). By focusing on proactive monitoring and support in the outpatient setting, this pathway aims to improve outcomes and empower patients through earlier detection and streamlined care. Main duties of the job Are you passionate about advancing liver care and making a real impact in early cancer detection? We're excited to offer a unique opportunity for a dedicated nurse to join our expanding Hepatology Nursing Service at GWH. In this dynamic role, you will: Lead nurse-ledHCC surveillance clinics for patients diagnosed with compensated cirrhosis, delivering proactive and patient-centered care. Collaborate with ourhepatology pathway coordinator to embed a new, trust-wide HCC surveillance programme, supporting patients at high risk of developing Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC). Participate innurse-led FibroScan clinics, helping to detect liver disease early and stratify patients for appropriate surveillance and intervention. Conductcomprehensive assessments for patients entering liver cancer surveillance pathways, planning, implementing, and evaluating tailored care plans. This pathway will support patients with stable, compensated liver cirrhosis and those who are in high-risk groups of developing Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in the outpatient setting. Please See Attached Full Job Description Person Specification Qualifications Qualifications Essential Registered Adult Nurse Current NMC registration Desirable Gastroenterology or hepatology relevant course of CPD such as GIN PACR/PACE or physical assessment and diagnostics course Mentorship qualification Experience Essential Current band 5 or band 6 nursing experience in any setting Desirable Gastroenterology or hepatology experience in any setting Knowledge of liver disease and its management Previous work within an outpatient setting or clinic environment Additional information Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
