About the job

Job summary

Ofgem is Great Britain's independent energy regulator. Our primary responsibility is to protect energy consumers, especially the most vulnerable, while at the same time working with government, industry and consumer groups to deliver a clean, more affordable and secure net-zero energy system at the lowest cost to consumers and drive economic growth.

Ofgem delivers renewable energy and social programmes on behalf of government – this is done through the Delivery and Schemes Directorate. These schemes are varied – covering Renewable Heat, Renewable Electricity, Energy Efficiency and fuel poverty – collectively, they are worth £9bn a year. And crucially, these schemes are critical to hitting our Net Zero goals and providing support for households.

As part of the administration of these schemes, we are tasked with the assessment of a large volume of applications to verify eligibility, assessment of high volume and value data submissions, working on amendments, carrying out calculations/review of quantitative data sets, maintaining internal databases; and authorising payments/certificates to participants.

The Audit team is responsible for delivering audit programmes through external auditors under the various schemes we administer. We currently administer 10 environmental and social schemes, valued at approximately £9bn a year in consumer and taxpayer's money.
