Enhanced Technician
Location: Kent (ME16 area)
Salary: £50,000 £60,000 per annum
Shifts: 5-week rotating shift pattern (including day & night shifts)
Overview:
A leading energy-from-waste operator is seeking an experienced and motivated Enhanced Technician to join its high-performing operations team at a large-scale Energy from Waste (EfW) facility in Kent. Reporting to the Shift Manager, this role is integral to ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the plant.
Youll take ownership of both control room and field operations, ensuring high safety standards, environmental compliance, and effective coordination of personnel and contractors.
Shift Pattern (35-day rotation):
* 14 shifts total (7 days, 7 nights)
* 21 days off, including a 12-day break for rest and recovery
Operational Duties:
* Operate the plant via Distributed Control System (DCS) and on-site equipment including boilers, turbines, pumps, fans, ash and waste handling systems.
* Support maintenance coordination, plant isolation and safe system of work processes.
* Supervise and mentor junior team members and support training and development.
* Drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency, safety and environmental performance.
* Take a lead role in incident response, plant trip reporting and root cause analysis.
Experience and Qualifications:
* At least 3 years' experience in a similar operational or technical role in energy recovery, heavy process or power generation industries.
* Working knowledge of plant safety systems and authorisation up to SAP level 2 (or working towards).
* DCS operations experience.
* Understanding of Environmental Permitting and emissions compliance.
Preferred:
* HNC in Engineering, Process, or Science discipline.
* NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely.
* Experience in supervising small operational teams.
* Ability to undertake front-line maintenance
