We currently have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Soldering Operative within our growing Foundry Team. This is an exciting opportunity to join our afternoon shift where the working hours are Monday-Thursday 3pm-11pm, Friday 1pm-9pm.
In a nutshell you will be responsible for:
You'll be responsible for meticulously soldering brass parts using specialized techniques, ensuring a strong and aesthetically pleasing finish.
What you are already great at:
* Soldering brass components together according to specifications and assembly drawings.
* Operating and maintaining soldering equipment, including torches, soldering irons, and related tools.
* Preparing brass surfaces for soldering by cleaning and applying necessary fluxes.
* Applying solder to brass joints with precision and control, ensuring proper flow and penetration.
* Inspecting soldered joints for defects like leaks, cracks, or uneven solder distribution.
* Reworking or repairing non-conforming soldered joints to meet quality specifications.
* Maintaining a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper handling and storage of brass components and tools.
* Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe working environment, including proper ventilation and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
* Potentially involved in the preparation of brazing solutions or silver solder applications (depending on the role).
* Following documented procedures and keep accurate records of production activities.
* May be required to learn and implement new soldering techniques as needed.
* Ensuring work instructions and procedures are followed at all times.
* Recognising and reporting exceptional requirements or shortfalls for parts and components.
* Training and developing new team members to the standard required.
* Reporting any issues to the team leader.
* Maintain a clean, safe working environment and good housekeeping standards and ensure 5S standards are maintained.
* Maintain good communications and relationships throughout the company.
* Ensure compliance with company procedures and make suggestions for improvement.
For this role we would need you to demonstrate:
* Prior experience in soldering brass or other metals (preferred but not essential).
* Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy.
* Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A commitment to safety and quality standards.
* Knowledge of safe brass handling practices preferred.
