Overview
Inspector – Lead/Supervisor, Oxfordshire. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced inspector with supervisory experience to join a fast-paced engineering company supplying motorsport, medical and aerospace industries with low volume, custom engineered, precision parts. The company has a modern headquarters, employs around 300 people across R&D, engineering & manufacturing, and holds intellectual property that keeps its order book full. The role is permanent, full-time onsite in Oxford, with Monday to Friday normal day shifts.
Responsibilities
* The inspection team of 12 focuses on in-process inspection, final acceptance testing and provision of data for product conformity reports. It provides dimensional and attribute data using primarily manual/hand inspection equipment (verniers, mics, gauges, etc.).
* Your role will be 80% supervisory and 20% hands-on. You will be responsible for day-to-day management and support of the team. This includes creating and driving best practices, efficiencies and consistencies across the team. You will create skills matrices and develop individual competencies within the inspectors. You will not be responsible for resource allocation.
* When not supervising, you will perform manual inspection duties alongside the team.
What you will need
* Previous leadership responsibility (formal or informal).
* Ability to read engineering drawings to a high level, including GD&T as per BS8888.
* Extensive familiarity with manual inspection tools, equipment and practices.
* An engineering qualification (NVQ, ONC or equivalent) would be desirable, but experience in lieu will be considered.
* Low volume, precision part experience (e.g., motorsport, low-volume vehicles, aerospace, defence, medical equipment).
* Unrestricted right to work in the UK; ability to travel without reliance on public transport (not well served).
