Full-time SEN Specialist Teacher (Primary School) required from September 2026 Pay Scale MPS 1 – MPS 6; UPS 1-3 In light of the government’s recent Schools White Paper, “Every Child Achieving and Thriving,” and building on the strong inclusive provision already in place, the governors at Bishop Wilson are seeking to appoint a skilled and committed SEN Specialist Teacher. This role is suited to a teacher with experience of working within EYFS/KS1 specialist settings, supporting pupils with a range of complex and overlapping needs. These will include communication and interaction differences, cognition and learning needs, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Experience of working with pupils with autism, ADHD (including co-occurring profiles), and Down syndrome would be advantageous. The successful candidate will work with a small group of pupils in a well-resourced, spacious classroom with access to a dedicated outdoor area. The role involves designing and delivering a highly personalised, bespoke curriculum within a flexible and responsive timetable. A strong understanding of relational and trauma-informed approaches is essential, alongside a commitment to supporting pupils’ emotional regulation, communication and readiness to learn. Main Purpose of the Role • To deliver high-quality, individualised teaching for pupils with complex SEND • To support pupils to develop communication, emotional regulation, independence and engagement in learning. • To promote inclusion, progress and wellbeing through personalised and responsive teaching approaches Key Responsibilities • Plan, deliver and evaluate highly personalised learning for individuals within a small group of pupils with complex SEND. • Develop and implement bespoke curricula and individual learning programmes tailored to pupil needs. • Use relational and trauma-informed approaches to support regulation, engagement and behaviour. • Assess pupil progress and adapt teaching approaches and provision accordingly. • Contribute to the development, implementation and review of EHCPs. • Work collaboratively with parents/carers and a range of multi-agency professionals. • Lead, deploy and support teaching assistants to ensure consistent, high-quality provision. • Support pupils to develop social communication and interaction skills through structured and supported opportunities. • Promote inclusive practice across the school and contribute to the development of SEND provision. • Contribute to the ongoing review and development of SEND policy and practice within the wider school. Person Specification Qualifications and Training • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) • Evidence of continued professional development in SEND Experience • Experience teaching primary-aged pupils within specialist settings • Experience supporting pupils with a range of complex SEND. • Experience contributing to and implementing EHCPs. • Experience delivering individualised and small group interventions. • Experience working in partnership with parents and multi-agency teams.
