Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
In this role, you will configure and deliver storage and backup solutions that are critical to project success and long-term service stability. You will implement changes, carry out installations, patching, and configuration tasks, ensuring delivery aligns with best practice, agreed designs, and client expectations. By maintaining strong documentation, you will enable seamless handover and support continuity across both onshore and offshore teams.
You will also play a key role in sustaining CGI’s high standards, ensuring that every solution meets our security, compliance, and quality commitments. Whether working independently or in collaboration with senior colleagues, you’ll take ownership of outcomes, contribute to innovation, and build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues.
Key responsibilities include:
Configure & Deliver: Install, patch, and configure storage and backup solutions across hardware and virtual environments.
Maintain & Secure: Apply OS installs, patching, and firmware updates in line with best practices and CGI standards.
Document & Transfer: Produce accurate documentation and manage knowledge transfer to support teams.
Collaborate & Support: Work alongside colleagues and clients to meet project and small change delivery timescales.
Adhere & Protect: Follow change control procedures and maintain compliance with ISO and ISO standards.
Innovate & Improve: Identify opportunities to enhance processes and contribute to service excellence.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
To be successful, you should bring solid experience in storage and backup delivery, with a deep knowledge of Windows Server architecture and an understanding of Unix/Linux environments. Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to follow detailed implementation plans while working independently or within a team.
Essential qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of Windows Server (legacy to and current supported versions)
Knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems
Familiarity with Brocade/Cisco FC switch fundamentals
Ability to configure, patch, and deliver storage and backup solutions
Strong documentation and knowledge transfer skills
Proven ability to follow detailed implementation plans and change control procedures
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
Full UK driving licence
Desirable experience:
Exposure to hybrid infrastructure environments
Experience supporting secure or regulated industries
Familiarity with ITIL practices
