Post‑Doctoral Researcher – Grade UE07. Salary: £41,064 – £48,822 per annum (pro‑rata if part‑time). Institute of Genetics and Cancer (IGC), University of Edinburgh.
Employment Details
* Full‑time: 35 hours per week.
* Fixed‑term: 24 months in the first instance, with possibility of extension.
Opportunity
Work in the international Cancer Grand Challenges CAUSE team, mechanistically relating DNA damage to the mutations it generates. The role focuses on developing and applying technologies to enrich for and map DNA damage and modifications within the human genome, and exploring how that damage is processed leading to repair, mutagenesis or damage tolerance.
Responsibilities
* Develop and apply technologies for enrichment and mapping of DNA damage and modifications.
* Investigate processing of damage leading to repair, mutagenesis or tolerance.
* Own and manage your own projects while collaborating with experts in high‑throughput sequencing and mass‑spectrometry data analysis.
* Work closely with the IGC and CAUSE partners at Sanger Institute, Hubrecht Institute, Harvard University, University of San Diego and University of Minnesota.
Qualifications
* PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry or a related discipline (if close to completion, relevant experience will be considered).
* Experience in molecular biology and nucleic acid manipulation.
* Core biochemistry techniques, including protein purification.
* Familiarity with high‑throughput sequencing and mass‑spectrometry platforms is an advantage.
* Excellent communication, independent ownership of projects, and ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
