At Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre, you'll join a friendly, experienced OT team supporting adults with complex cognitive and physical needs following acquired or traumatic brain injury. Our service includes a Level 1 Cognitive-Behavioural ward (21 beds) and a Level 2 Neurorehabilitation ward (18 beds)giving you exposure to a wide range of specialist interventions. Please note: This advert will close once we have received a sufficient number of applications. The Role: This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. During this time, your key duties and responsibilities will include: Collaborate with the Occupational Therapy team to develop individualised rehabilitation plans based on patients' goals and functional abilities Plan and facilitate group therapy sessions, including upper-limb rehabilitation, cooking groups, and community-based activities. Implement therapeutic activities to improve patients' motor skills, co-ordination, balance, strength and cognitive functioning. Work with patients on a 1:1 basis, both within the hospital and in the community, to support the development of domestic, self-care, social, or leisure skills under the guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist, providing updates, queries, or concerns to the multidisciplinary team (MDT) as appropriate. Monitoring patient progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal rehabilitation outcomes. Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients during their rehabilitation journey. Educating patients and their families about strategies for maximising independence and managing challenges related to their condition. Responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and ensuring the proper use of occupational therapy equipment. Participate in staff training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge. What you'll bring: Previous experience in a healthcare or support worker role is essential. Experience working with neurological conditions is desirable. Experience of working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients, their families, and colleagues. Demonstrates an empathetic and compassionate approach to patients' needs and challenges. Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS.
