Post holder will undertake comprehensive mental health assessments for new referrals as per agreed protocol under the supervision of the lead Consultant Psychiatrist. He /she will see patients from within one of the localities in the northern sector of the Trust. He/she will participate as a full member of the multi-disciplinary community mental health team for older people. He/she will provide formal professional supervision and teaching for more junior grades of nursing staff including students who report directly to him/her.
Responsibilities
* Undertake comprehensive mental health assessments for new referrals and clinical reviews as per agreed protocol under the supervision of the lead Consultant Psychiatrist.
* Carry out these assessments in an outpatient clinic setting, patients own home or nursing home.
* Liaise with and seek advice from Consultant Psychiatrist in complex cases
* Undertake risk assessments and where necessary refer to appropriate professional.
Skills and Qualifications
* Level one Registered Mental Health Nurse (on live NMC Register)
* 2 years post registration experience within a mental health setting.
* Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car is essential.
* This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the Trust which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post.
