As the EU Inbound Transportation Manager, you will be the primary architect of Spreetail’s inventory flow across the UK and Europe. This is a high-impact, dual-focus role that combines logistical execution with commercial freight brokerage. You will manage the end-to-end movement of containers and trucks for Spreetail Retail and PS customers, ensuring optimal scheduling into multiple Fulfillment Centres (FCs) while aggressively managing transportation costs. The ideal candidate is a logistics expert who understands the nuances of UK/EU customs, possesses the commercial "hustle" to negotiate spot vs. contract rates, and has the analytical rigor to drive process improvements.
How you will achieve success:
1. End-to-End Logistics Oversight: Manage the movement of inbound containers and trucks across the UK and Europe, ensuring seamless port handling, customs clearance, and inland haulage while eliminating auxiliary charges like demurrage.
2. Strategic Inbound Scheduling: Coordinate with warehouse teams and utilize WMS/TMS tools to schedule deliveries, ensuring inventory flow aligns with sales demand and facility capacity.
3. Commercial Freight Brokerage: Execute "Buy-Sell" freight transactions by analyzing market trends and leveraging the best mix of spot and contracted rates to maximize profitability for PS customers.
4. Vendor & Compliance Management: Lead relationships with 3PLs, carriers, and forwarders while ensuring all import/export documentation strictly adheres to UK and EU trade regulations.
5. SOP & Process Optimization: Develop and deploy standardized operating procedures for inbound receipts to ensure fully audited processes and high operational accuracy across all fulfillment centers.
6. Data-Driven Reporting: Analyze logistics performance and pricing trends to provide stakeholders with actionable insights and cost-saving strategies.
What experiences will help you in this role:
7. Experience: 4+ years in logistics or transportation (specifically Seafreight/Containers) within a large 3PL or regional/global freight forwarder.
8. Trade Knowledge: Deep understanding of Incoterms, customs regulations, global trade compliance, and UK/EU import/export procedures.
9. Commercial Acumen: Proven experience in freight brokerage, pricing, and margin management.
10. Skills: Exceptional organizational skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
11. Communication: Fluent in English (additional European languages are a significant advantage).
