We have a great opportunity to join the Dietetic team at Ashford and St. Peter's Hospitals. This fixed‑term vacancy is for a part‑time (0.7 WTE) Band 7 Lead Gastroenterology Dietitian. The successful candidate will be part of the Gastroenterology Dietetic team and deliver specialist inpatient and outpatient services to our patients. This role offers flexible and hybrid working, and a range of professional development opportunities.

Main duties of the job
The Gastroenterology Dietetics team provides a service to adult gastroenterology inpatients at St Peter's Hospital. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic team of six gastro dietitians and a dietetic assistant, providing expert nutritional care and managing a caseload of inpatients on the gastroenterology ward. This post has a strong outpatient focus, offering a specialist dietetic service for patients with gastrointestinal conditions such as IBS, coeliac disease, liver disease and IBD. Responsibilities include face‑to‑face, telephone and virtual appointments, group education sessions, leading the dietetic‑led coeliac disease service and attending MDT meetings.
Alongside the other Band 7 Lead Gastroenterology Dietitian and accountable to the Dietetic Clinical Lead for Gastroenterology & Surgery, the post holder will:
* Provide specialist clinical leadership for the gastroenterology dietetic service and manage a caseload of complex patients.
* Provide expert advice within the MDT.
* Oversee service performance, including monitoring activity, outcomes, capacity and meeting agreed performance indicators.
* Deliver clinical supervision to staff and students to support high‑quality practice and professional development.
* Lead service improvement and pathway development projects to enhance patient care, efficiency and innovation across gastroenterology.

* 4‑year degree in Dietetics (or equivalent qualification).
* Registration with HCPC.
* Extensive postgraduate training to Masters level or equivalent experience at Masters level.
* Student supervisory skills course.
* Member of the British Dietetic Association relevant Specialist Group.
* Post‑registration PENG course in nutrition support.
* KCL FODMAP course or experience.
Experience
* Significant post‑registration dietetic experience managing gastroenterology inpatients in the NHS.
* Significant experience in enteral and oral nutritional support practices.
* Experience of multidisciplinary team working and working with partner organisations.
* Experience developing and delivering training and education to healthcare professionals.
* Experience of leading service development projects.
* Experience delivering outpatient clinics and group education sessions.
* Experience of student supervision.
* Experience initiating and managing patients on home enteral feeds.
* Experience managing eating disorder patients.
* Experience of line management and supervision.
Knowledge
* Specialist knowledge of nutrition support including oral and enteral nutrition support.
* Specialist knowledge of dietary interventions used within gastroenterology.
* Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
Skills
* Advanced highly specialist skills within dietetics.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, including behaviour change and motivational skills.
* Ability to work under own initiative and to coordinate and prioritise workloads.
* Ability to deal with emotionally demanding situations and communicate sensitive information as part of clinical care or staff management.
* Ability to collect and review performance data, analyse and develop services.
* Ability to critically evaluate current research.
* Computer literacy with data collection, PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Microsoft Teams.
Other requirements
* Ability to travel between Trust sites.
* Driving licence and access to car for work.

£51,657 to £58,785 a year inc. HCAS pro rata.
