Teaching Assistant Contract: Full-Time /Part-Time / Long-Term Location: York, North Yorkshire Pay: £90 – £110 per day (depending on experience) GSL Education are seeking experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist school in York that supports students with complex needs, including Autism, non-verbal communication, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) profiles. About the School: The school is a supportive and specialist environment, dedicated to providing high-quality education and care for young people with additional needs. Staff work collaboratively with families and multi-agency professionals to ensure every child has the best possible outcomes. About the role as a Teaching Assistant: Supporting students with complex Autism, SEMH, and behavioural needs. Using de-escalation strategies and Team Teach approaches to manage behaviour safely and positively. Supporting non-verbal students through communication aids and tailored interventions. Delivering 1:1 and small group support to enable progress both academically and socially. Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and the wider SEN team to develop personalised learning plans. As the ideal Teaching Assistant, we are looking for: SEN professionals with proven experience supporting students with ASC, SEMH, or other complex needs. Confident in behaviour management and building positive, trusting relationships with students. Ideally trained in Team Teach, MAPA, or similar behaviour management strategies (training can be provided). Resilient, proactive, and able to adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
