Role Overview
Learning and Development Adviser at HMP Fosse Way, 100% on site at the prison.
The adviser acts as an advocate for prisoners, providing information, advice and guidance on educational, training and employment opportunities both within and beyond HMP Fosse Way. The role involves supporting prisoners to develop and review their employment and personal goals throughout their learning, skills and work journey.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing a structured pathway of education, training and employment for prisoners during their stay in custody.
* Maintaining caseloads to enable prisoners to achieve their sustainable employment, training and continued education goals upon release.
* Contributing to prison employment outcomes and reducing the risk of re‑offending.
* Providing individual one‑to‑one discussions and group activities tailored to each prisoner’s needs and circumstances.
* Inspiring, motivating and building rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds in a non-judgemental manner.
* Collaborating with key prison partners to support induction, coaching, mentoring and assisting individuals throughout their sentence.
This role offers a progression pathway to a career guidance position upon successful completion of an Information, Advice and Guidance qualification at Level 4, making it an ideal entry point for those wishing to advance in education and careers.
