We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join our secretarial team within the Rheumatology Service. The role provides a link between the Trust, the patient and their GP for patients/carers and other healthcare professionals. You will provide a comprehensive, efficient and responsive secretarial service to the medical staff and their teams.
To work collaboratively with the clerical, secretarial and clinical teams to provide an accurate and effective secretarial service to the MSK Outpatient Department. The post holder will work with minimal supervision and be expected to work flexibly as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing a wide range of specific secretarial duties.
Main duties of the job The successful candidate will be required to provide comprehensive secretarial support to the Clinical and nursing teams.
You will need to have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team whilst maintaining a high standard of work. The ability to prioritise your workload and to know when to escalate issues is essential. You will need to be able to liaise with staff throughout the Trust at all levels including Consultants, Management, Nursing staff, GP's, patients and patient relatives, dealing effectively and efficiently with their enquiries.
To be successful in your application you will need to have a good standard of education, experience of an office based role, excellent verbal, written communication and typing skills and a clear understanding of patient confidentiality.

Person Specification Qualifications GCSE at Grade 4/C in English (or equivalent qualifications) or equivalent work experience
NVQ/RSA or OCR at level 3, or, relevant secretarial, admin and clerical experience that would equate to level 3.
ECDL or equivalent.
Experience Experience of dealing with the public.
Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
Experience of working with different computer software eg email, internet
Audio Typing experience
Experience of working with filing systems
Experience of working as a medical secretary
Relevant experience within the NHS
Awareness of NHS policies
Experience of Lorenzo / ICE results / CRIS / Radiology Tracking / ERS / E-Whiteboard / IEP
Understanding of data protection issues and the ability to maintain confidentiality
Excellent communication skills, with ability to deal with staff at all levels
Displays use of initiative with effective organisational skill
Ability to prioritise and work to strict/conflicting deadlines
On-going commitment to personal development
High standard of accuracy
Knowledge of medical terminology
Understanding of the 18 week Referral to Treatment (RTT) process
Further Training Working knowledge of confidentiality related legislation and Codes of Practice, including Data Protection Act (1998), Freedom of Information Act 2000), Duty of Candour (2015), GDPR (2016) and Caldicott Guidelines (1997)
Knowledge of clinical and corporate governance
