About the Role:
Are you passionate about the outdoors and eager to inspire young people to connect with nature, build confidence, and develop life skills? We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Outdoor Activity Tutor to lead engaging, nature-based experiences for young people aged 12–16. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in the wild, values the planet and its people, and can passionately engage vulnerable and SEN students in nature-based activities. Key Responsibilities:
* Design and deliver a diverse range of outdoor activities including:
* Survival skills and bushcraft
* Yoga and meditation
* Hiking and nature walks
* Team-building games and problem-solving challenges
* Search and rescue simulations
* Outdoor cooking and nutrition
* Nature-inspired crafts and creative projects
* Community service and environmental stewardship
You will be able to:
* Foster personal growth by helping students build confidence, resilience, and leadership skills.
* Create a safe and inclusive environment where all participants feel valued and supported.
* Intentionally engage students with nature, encouraging curiosity, respect, and a deeper understanding of the natural world.
* Introduce basic forestry concepts, helping students gain insight into woodland ecosystems and sustainable land management.
* Collaborate with other tutors and staff to ensure high-quality programming and continuous improvement.
Person Specification
Essential:
* A genuine love for the outdoors and working with young people.
* Experience in delivering outdoor education, youth work, or similar activities.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to lead and motivate groups in a variety of outdoor settings.
* Knowledge of the environmental and a commitment to sustainability.
* First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable:
* Qualifications in outdoor education, youth work, or related fields.
* Skills in yoga, meditation, or mindfulness practices.
* Experience in forestry, conservation, or land-based education.
* Crafting, cooking, or other creative outdoor skills.
