MCAST CAX/Simulation Manager

Overview
QinetiQ Training & Simulation Ltd (QTSL) develops bespoke software solutions across AI, AR, VR and mathematical modelling to support MOD training and next‑generation simulation systems. Activities include software development, training support and research into synthetic environments.
Responsibilities
* Lead configuration, setup, testing and deployment of the synthetic environment for exercise delivery.
* Plan and deliver exercise scenarios and databases in the synthetic environment.
* Develop training materials to support LOCON training on use and exploitation of the CAX tools.
* Work closely with CIS manager to ensure suitable CIS infrastructure is designed and delivered.
* Liaise with CAX tools providers to discuss upgrades and continual improvement feedback.
* Plan and implement agreed maintenance, testing and acceptance activities to maximise availability.
* During exercise delivery, train users on system, manage the synthetic environment and update scenario/databases to meet training needs.
* Provide information and support to AAR activity.
The Candidate
This role suits people who are very delivery focused and enjoy ‘making things happen’. You will work closely with exercise delivery and technical teams to deliver a seamless experience to the training audience. The role is based in Portsmouth with regular visits to QTSL HQ in Farnborough and occasional overseas travel.
Experience and Skills
* Experience across synthetic environments including configuration, deployment, testing and user training.
* Understanding of terrain generation, tools and data sources.
* Hardware setup and configuration.
* Network configuration and laydown.
* Military knowledge and understanding.
* Task planning and prioritisation.
* Excellent organisation skills with the ability to multi‑task.
* Adaptability and responsiveness, the ability to rapidly identify, solve problems and provide solutions.
* Effective communication efficiently and diplomatically in a clear and concise manner.
* Expert user of the MS Office Suite.
