Job Description / Preferred Qualifications
This role will be based in Celtic Lakes. Our new 237,000‑square‑foot Newport facility provides additional production and customer collaboration spaces, including 25,000 square feet of R&D clean rooms, 35,000 square feet of state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing space and tool demo areas, all designed to support development of semiconductor process technologies across advanced packaging, power devices, MEMS, RF and photonics sector technology.
This is an exciting role within our Manufacturing Design Engineering (MDE) team, focused on the design and development of improvements to product and processes to support manufacturing growth, new product, and continuous improvement projects! Within this team, the MDE will play a meaningful role in ensuring manufacturing and its support teams are planning and delivering to the correct specifications, in the most efficient way possible, to deliver high‑value capital equipment, on time, in full, and to spec.
Your day-to-day responsibilities
* Support manufacturing teams utilising a Quick Response Quality Control methodology
* Provide feedback on Design for Manufacture to Product Design and New Product Launch teams
* Develop Standard Operating Procedures
* Use SPC and Dashview to improve the quality of the products that are produced
* Create maintenance and training plans for Shopfloor test equipment, lifting gear and safety equipment
* Manage specifications with Enovia PLM – training will be provided
* Lead multiple projects, working multi‑functionally with Operations and Engineering teams
* Investigate and resolve technical challenges to support manufacturing processes
* Perform root cause analysis and implement appropriate corrective and preventative actions
* Generate, review, and approve Engineering Change Orders
* Understand budgets and support CAPEX requests
* Implement change, right first time, following our Product Lifecycle (PLC) process
* Shift work will be required – days and afternoons shift premium will be paid
Qualifications
* Degree qualified in Engineering discipline or HNC/HND plus relevant experience
* Proficient with Solid Edge, Solid Works, and AutoCAD Electrical – desirable but not essential
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Experience of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodology
