The job itself
Gentleman in his 30s requires an additional support worker to support him with social activities and general everyday needs. Gentleman lives in Kirk Ella in his own home and requires full time support. Young man has severe learning disabilities, autism, and OCD.
Activities he enjoys - swimming, and walking in the countryside and by the sea. Also loves kayaking and paddle boarding, Ice skating and climbing, bouncing and swings and picking up litter. He enjoys watching Disney films and you tube clips.
Gentleman requires help with personal care, taking medications, making meals, getting a bath, and getting dressed. Gentleman has a car and would prefer that someone to drive this., (it's an automatic) but it's not essential.
Gentleman communicates with pictures and symbols and likes his days to be structured so that everything is 'just right'. He can be demanding. When out and about he has 2 support workers with him, so needs someone with a friendly manner who is happy to work as part of a team.
Current hourly rate is £13.75 day rate and £13.00 night rate (waking night).
Our shift patterns are 14 hours (day) 8 or 10 hours (day) or 10 hours (Night).
We are looking for someone who can commit to a minimum of a 10 hour shift per week, plus extra hours if needed. This will include some weekends. And you might be asked to do a waking night shift (10pm-8am) sometimes. Initially you will always have the support of an experienced member of the team working alongside you.
Training will be provided and senior staff and colleagues will help you learn and develop your skills and knowledge.
5.6 weeks annual holiday pay, a pension and statutory sick pay.
