At our hospital, employees and patients are at the heart of everything we do. We have new opportunities in our Facilities department at Furness General Hospital for a Domestic Assistant to support the Trust in providing a clean and safe environment for all.
The role is 25 hours per week, from 7:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Main duties of the job
* Ensure high standards of cleanliness in clinical, public, and external areas using recognized cleaning methods.
* Identify areas to be cleaned, plan and organize cleaning schedules with relevant staff, ensuring safety for patients, staff, and visitors.
* Operate cleaning equipment safely, report faults immediately.
* Perform deep cleans and isolation cleans following guidelines.
* Carry out spill and incident cleaning promptly, with support from clinical staff as needed.
* Follow all COSHH assessments and safety data sheets when handling chemicals.

Education and qualifications
* Good literacy and numeracy skills
* Willingness to work towards a BIC's Qualification or NVQ Level 2
* Knowledge of Health and Safety and COSHH
Experience
* Previous cleaning experience
* Ability to work independently or in a team
* Knowledge of healthcare cleaning standards and cross-contamination prevention
