Description
We are delighted to offer an exciting, full-time and fixed-term opportunity from August to December, to join our highly successful Art Department at Sandwell College. Reporting to the Head of Centre, the Lecturer in Art and Design will play a key role in delivering engaging and high-quality learning experiences to our students.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will deliver specific programmes in line with the College’s curriculum objectives, working closely with managers, colleagues, and students to ensure strong outcomes and student success. You will support the delivery of our BTEC Level 2 and 3 Art and Design programmes, contribute to wider departmental and College-wide events such as our annual Festival of Arts, and develop enrichment, careers, and work placement opportunities for students. Your confidence, creativity, and excellent communication skills will also ensure effective collaboration with stakeholders and the broader Creative Industries team.
Skills, Knowledge And Expertise
To be considered for this role, you must hold a recognised teaching qualification (Level 5 or above) and have demonstrable experience within the Art and Design sector. You will have experience teaching BTEC (or similar) and be familiar with Assessment and Internal Verification processes. Strong practical art and design skills are essential, and you must be able to inspire learners through innovative and engaging delivery.
Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding
To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£30,583 - £46,263), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:
Accepted Qualifications:
* DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
* Certificate in Education
* PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
* DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
* DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject
If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£25,611 - £28,817).
Not Accepted as Stand Alone Qualifications:
* PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
* CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
* CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults)
